Play By Play is a new‐play incubator series designed to foster ensemble input into the final drafting stages of promising new scripts. We offer working playwrights a safe, collaborative space to bring late drafts of new plays; a professional set of collaborators – actors and a director; a table reading with the playwright; and a moderated discussion of input. By creating a room where collaborative voices can connect during a play’s most generative stage of development, we give actors an opportunity to engage with current writing; we give directors an opportunity to lend input as plays’ characters take shape; we create a community of theatermakers with the shared aim of shepherding a script toward production; and most importantly, by giving a first voice to their script, we give vital input to the playwright during their final drafting.
We solicit submissions from a growing community of playwrights whose plays give voice to peripheralized people. The plays we seek focus on the LGBT+ community; women, gender fluid, and trans characters; racial and ethnic minorities; and characters with disabilities. We aim to shepherd these vital stories toward imminent production by theaters across the US. (Recipient A.R.T./NY Creative Space Grant 2019)

Insight Artists Collective
Co-Founding Member
2017-Present
In 2017 TÉA Creative launched the Insight Artists Collective, a cohort of eight Insight Artists challenged with further developing the tenants of Insight Artistry. Insight Artists are committed to creating work that asks its maker and its audience to wonder. To wonder with the kind of startling openness that lifts us out of our habitual ways of knowing and thinking, and into curiosity. At the heart of Insight is the exquisite attention we pay to the interiority of ourselves and others. It is with this in mind that we shape the stories we tell, and the process with which we create them.
